NAIW Week began as National Insurance Women’s Day and was first celebrated May 10, 1957 to recognize “the fine contributions that insurance women are making to our industry.”
The first weeklong celebration called National Insurance Women’s Week was held May 16-22, 1965. Since then, the week beginning the third Sunday in May has traditionally been set aside each year to applaud women in insurance and to recognize their considerable achievements. In 1988, the event was renamed NAIW Week to further focus attention on the special members of this unique organization.
Local associations celebrate NAIW Week in many ways: by bringing NAIW to the attention of the public and by offering education opportunities, by naming an Insurance Professional of the Year and a Rookie of the Year; by hosting an Industry Night, or by dedicating one day during the week for special attention to a critical industry and/or social issue such as drinking and driving.
The scheduled events for this year are indicated below and we hope that you will find these events interesting and encourage everyone in this industry to come out and be a part of the our organization.
